Séamus Mag Uidhir (1902-1990) was a prominent Irish folklorist and author born in Doohoma, County Mayo. During the 1930s, he extensively documented the local history, traditions, and folklore of Mayo, later serving as an Irish language organizer and a vocational schoolteacher in Ballina.
His literary works primarily center on preserving local histories and oral traditions in the Irish language, including his four major books:
