Illustrated with B&W sketches in the text and several coloured plates. Original blue cloth with facsimile signature in gilt on front board. Gilt title on spine. In original price clipped dust jacket. Illustrated end papers. Very good condition. Cloth binding faded/discoloured. Minor shelf wear, rubbing and bumping. Edges dust dulled. Dust dulling and some edge wear to dust jacket. Inscribed by the author: ‘For Brookie with love and admiration from Peter. 19th June 1961’.

Peter Scott (1909 – 1989) was a British ornithologist, conservationist, painter, naval officer, broadcaster and sportsman.
Scott was knighted in 1973 for his contribution to the conservation of wild animals. He had been a founder of the World Wide Fund for Nature, founded the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (November 1946), and was an influence on international conservation. He received the WWF Gold Medal. and the J. Paul Getty Prize for his work.
Alanbrooke is mentioned a few times in this autobiography in his functions during WW2 and his role in various ornithological organizations where he and Peter Scott worked together.
